Improve and Maintain Egg Shell Quality with Shell Add-Pack

Poor egg shell quality causes production loss and extra burden to egg producers. While many factors such as barn management, environmental conditions and animal nutrition can influence eggshell quality, it’s important to take preemptive action in the hen’s nutrition to promote strong eggshell quality.

Shell Add-Pack improves the eggshell quality for layer flocks experiencing problems with shell cracks and checks. Provimi offers customized formulations for specific applications.

Maximize Production

While it would be nearly impossible to eliminate all egg shell cracking and quality issues, incorporating Shell Add Pack into the nutritional strategy helps promote egg shell quality.

Shell Add Pack Features
  • Bacillus subtilis has shown positive responses to improved shell quality through the mobilization of medullary bone in commercial field trials
  • Trace Minerals: Zinc and Manganese
    • Zinc is required for the production of carbonic anhydrase, an enzyme necessary for the conversion of absorbed calcium into calcium carbonate needed for shell formation
    • Incorporating Manganese at significantly higher than standard industry recommendations has been proven to improve shell quality
    • Incorporating both Zinc and Manganese in the amino acid complex form has been shown to enhance mineral bioavailability
  • Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin that has a critical role in calcium and phosphorus absorption.  Increased Vitamin D3 supplementation has proven to improve shell quality and decrease the incidence of cage layer fatigue
  • Sodium Butyrate is included only in the Shell Add-Pack formulation for brown hens and improves calcium absorption and stimulates liver function
